It is engaged in the operation of a professional football club. The registered head office of the club is located in Villarreal, Spain. The club is a Spanish Primera División football club based in Villarreal, a small town in the province of Castellón. The team plays at the 25,000-seat Madrigal stadium. The club was founded in March 1923, in order to promote all sports, and specifically soccer, as was specified in its founding letter. The club is nicknamed El Submari Groguet or El Submarino Amarillo (Yellow Submarine) due to its yellow home kit, and due to being a low-profile team compared to Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Valencia CF.
